Wildwood, MO
Wildwood, Missouri is an affluent "exurb" of St.Louis. The community of about 36,000 resdients isshoppingcenter.jpg situated in far western St. Louis County. Wildwood is home to an expansive shopping center, the Wildwood Towne Centre. A new college campus for St. Louis Community College-Wildwood has recently opened as well. 

History

In 1795, settlers took advantage of Spanish land grant offers to establish homes here. Eventually, ten rural communities gradually combined to establish what is today Wildwood. The community was finally incorporated in 1995. 

Parks and Recreation

Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park offers miles of hiking trails and paved biking trails right in Wildwood. The undulating topography is accented by many stands of trees. The park affords a real opportunity to "get away from it all" without traveling far. 

Castlewood State Park may offer the best mountain biking trails in the entire St. Louis area. Picnickers can relax and absorb views of the Meramec River. Hikers will want to experience the scenery and exhilaration of the Al Foster Trail which runs along the Meramec River at times. The Al Foster Trail is part of a network of 32-miles of trails. The fun in the Wildwood area does not end when winter arrives; the Hidden Valley Ski Resort is nearby. 

To the northeast, there is Chesterfield and the unique Butterfly House. The children will revel in a world populated by 2,000 butterflies representing over 80 species. They'll get excited right at the entrance when they see the 30-ft caterpillar sculpture. 

Attractions and Activities

sixflags.jpgThe kids will be excited to learn that Six Flags St. Louis is close by. Nearby Grover is home to Cherry Hills Golf Course, a challenging par-71 layout that stretches to over 6,400 yards. The difficulty of the course is indicated by its slope rating of 132. Wildwood families can over to Glencoe to enjoy a half-hour, two-mile long train ride aboard the historic steam locomotive operated by the Wabash Frisco & Pacific Railroad.

Events

The New Community Church hosts an annual fall festival in Wildwood. Live music fills the air as kids enjoy face painting and various inflatables. Many kinds of food are offered to,this free event that's open to members of the community-at-large. 

Wildwood real estate consists mostly of single family homes. Many upscale estates are found in Wildwood, one of the most affluent communities in the greater St. Louis area.
